Dear Employer,

These job seekers were recently selected to take part in a US Department of Labor training grant designed to support the growth of Advanced Manufacturing in Massachusetts.  In addition to receiving training and certification in Principles of Lean Manufacturing, the manufacturing company who hires him/her (temp-to-perm or perm) will also be eligible to receive a $2,400 on-the-job training wage reimbursement, which is provided to help off-set the costs associated with training a new employee.

Massachusetts received close to $4 million in grant funds from the USDOL which were earmarked specifically for targeted training to increase the core advanced manufacturing skills of job seekers, as well as to further encourage the hiring of individuals with these necessary competencies.  If you would like to read more about this grant, the press release can be found here:  http://www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/eta/ETA20120365.htm.

Manufacturing companies hiring these grant recipients will be reimbursed through this grant at a rate of $10 per hour for the new employee's first 240 hours on the job (i.e. after the first 6 weeks, if working 40 hours a week).  In total, this means employers can earn $2,400 for every grant participant hired through this program.

These job seekers were invited to participate in this training grant by the Central & North Central MA Workforce Investment Boards, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MassMEP).  Participants selected for this program have been chosen following an intense application, screening and assessment process.  This assures employers they are receiving highly qualified and motivated candidates with lean manufacturing skills.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Penny Welch
